UC alumnus Daniel Parantac has scored a gold in the men’s tajijian at the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore

(From Rappler.com) SINGAPORE – Incheon Asian Games veteran Daniel Parantac finally broke the ice for the country in the 28th Singapore Southeast Asian Games wushu competitions, narrowly clinching the men’s tajijian gold at the Expo Hall 2 here on Sunday, June 7.

In a very tight 3-way contest, Parantac won over the judges with his dynamic display of grace and precision, garnering 9.71 points, edging Malaysia’s Jack Chang Lang Loh, who took the silver with a score of 9.69. Indonesia’s Julius Karnawan wound up with the bronze medal (9.68).

It was the second medal for the 25-year-old athlete – a silver medalist in the same event in last year’s Incheon Asiad – who earlier had silver late Saturday, June 6, in the men’s  team double-weapons event together with Norlenc Catolico and John Keithley Chan.
