The University of the Cordilleras (UC) is one of the two Universities in CAR identified by DOST as Niche Centers in the Region (NICER) for Research and Development (R&D).
The program supports the establishment of UCโs Mountain Engineering R&D Center for capacity building of R&D Institutions and Industrial Competitiveness with a total funding of P62.4M.
Headed by UC Research Executive Director Nathaniel Vincent A. Lubrica, the Niche Center conducts collaborative R&D to address specific S&T needs of local communities and industries to accelerate regional development in CAR.
There are 35 approved NICERs nationwide.
