The Office of Civil Defense-CAR awarded UC a cash incentive of PHP 100,000.00 for its outstanding performance as a national finalist in the 23rd Gawad KALASAG Special Awards for Higher Education Institutions category. The site visit and awarding ceremonies were held on May 2, 2024.

UC had been consistently recognized by Gawad KALASAG for its exemplary Disaster Risk Reduction and Management initiatives, benefiting both its academic and immediate communities. This award underscored the University’s commitment to disaster and risk preparedness.

The award is a testament to the unified collaboration of the following offices in ensuring that UC is #DisasterResilient: Office of the Vice President for Administration and Student Services, Research Services Office, Occupational Safety and Health, Center for Social Responsibility, Human Resource and Development Office, and Campus and Facilities Management Office.
