CCJE students & faculty earn major awards at Intโ€™l Research Conference

UC Criminology faculty members achieved major recognitions at the 15th Annual Conference of the Asian Criminological Society held on August 10, 2024, in Manila.

Dr. Debbie Karyle F. Arquero, with Dr. Christian T. Pascual as her adviser, received Best Paper and Best Presenter awards for her research on post-conviction DNA testing in the Philippine Criminal Justice System.

Ms. Joy Nicole Canutab was recognized as Best Presenter for her research on the perceptions and treatment of police officers towards the LGBTQIA+ community. Her study was co-authored by Criminology students Rhiteous Begeo, Jayson Kyle Cabbigat, Bernadette Capela, Jayson Lagyab, Biah Osenio, Roselyn Polon, EJ Soriano, Kamille Tade, and Kiane Zamora.
