Stefany Caliao and Aldith Mirador, BS Information Technology students from UC College of Information Technology and Computer Science, showcased their innovative project Alertrash as they represented the Philippines in the ASEAN Data Science Explorers Regional Competition held in Laos in October 2024.

Developed as part of their capstone course in partnership with Zero Waste Baguio, Inc., Alertrash addresses environmental challenges by promoting sustainable waste management and encouraging behavior change for the reduction of waste.

Caliao and Mirador earned the honor after winning the national championship of the same competition in September 2024.
