The Library and Information Services Month (LIS Month) for the UC Kinder, Grade School, and Junior High School (KGSJHS) culminated in an exciting program held in December 2024, at the UC Theater, celebrating creativity and a passion for reading.
The morning session featured the Bookish Dress-Up Contest, where students and teachers showcased their favorite book characters through imaginative costumes. First-place winners included Lucas Rafael Ilasin, Arya Leona G. Sumawang, Juan Carlo Lucas S. Carbonel, and Atarah Bernice M. Vergara.
The afternoon session saw the Junior High School students take the stage for the Anime/Manga Cosplay Contest, with Juan Gabriel H. Cereno and Karla Rose B. Kier as champions.
In addition to the costume contests, prizes were awarded to the winners of other LIS Month activities such as the Quiz Bee, My Favorite Book Photo Contest, Spoken Poetry, and Suki ng Library.
The month-long celebration underpinned the important role of libraries in developing creativity, encouraging a love for reading, and supporting academic growth among students.
