Cohort 8 student incubatees from various UC programs participated in a comprehensive training session on startup bootstrapping and achieving product-market fit on January 16, 2025, at the UC Innovation and Technology Transfer Office.

The morning session, facilitated by Mr. Nico Castro, challenged participants to rethink traditional startup approaches by emphasizing market validation and early revenue generation using limited resources, rather than relying solely on external funding. Drawing from his own entrepreneurial journey, Mr. Castro underscored the importance of resilience, creativity, and strategic thinking in building a successful startup.

In the afternoon, Ms. Maggie Po, a seasoned entrepreneur with over a decade of experience, shared practical strategies for achieving product-market fit. She highlighted the importance of identifying initial customers among “innovators” and “visionaries,” emphasizing that โ€œsuccessful products are bought, not sold.โ€ Her session provided actionable insights on aligning product development with market needs and optimizing resource allocation.
