The University of the Cordilleras (UC) Innovation Team bagged First Place in the Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technologies (IEET) category at the DOST North Luzon Tech Pitch: Commercializing Innovations 2025, held April 23โ€“25 at Newtown Plaza Hotel, Baguio City.

Their winning project, Sunshare, a blockchain-based renewable energy marketplace, aims to make clean energy more accessible to Filipino communities. Backed by a Php 3.99 million DOST-PCIEERD grant, the team is led by Dr. Thelma Palaoag, with Ms. Vanessa Kate Aniceto (pitch presenter), Engr. Michael James Deus, and Mr. Leandro Rey Gepila.

The team advances to the national competition, representing the North Luzon Cluster. Recognition was also given to UC alumni who helped build the projectโ€™s foundation: Ms. Sophia Marie Arellano, Mr. Rodney Doyaoen, and Mr. Earl Siachongco.
