In line with the Universityโ€™s commitment to socially responsive education, architecture students from the UC College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) presented a comprehensive architectural development proposal for the Furvent Animal Rescue and Advocacy Sanctuary on July 18, 2025. The presentation was attended by Dr. Rhodora A. Ngolob, Vice President for Administration and Student Services, together with officers of the Center for Social Responsibility – Project H.E.L.E.N. and JFINEX, a student organization of the College of Business Administration.

The proposed plan, developed after a site inspection, outlines critical enhancements to improve the welfare of sheltered animals and operational efficiency. Key design features include the installation of additional cages and fencing, construction of staff and reception areas, creation of a dedicated recreation space for rescued dogs, and upgrades to the drainage and septic systems.

This initiative integrates architectural practice with social advocacy, engaging students in community-based projects that align with the Animal Welfare Act. It exemplifies the Universityโ€™s goal of translating theoretical knowledge into practical, people- and animal-centered solutions, producing outputs that can inform future development efforts and strengthen institutional commitment to sustainable and humane design.
