Twenty student-members of the Senior High School Emergency Response Volunteers (ERV), together with eight student-members of the USHER and Rover Scouts of the UC Integrated School, successfully completed the Basic Life Support and Standard First Aid Training. Conducted by the Department of Health (DOH) โ Health Emergency Management Bureau, the four-day course was held from April 11 to 14, 2025.
Facilitated by personnel from the Baguio City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the program equipped students with essential emergency skills, including patient assessment, vital signs monitoring, CPR, bandaging, fracture management, lifting and moving patients, and administering first aid for common emergencies.
The students also learned about incident command system and emergency response protocols. To earn DOH certifications, the students underwent a rigorous evaluation process, which included an actual return demonstration, a written examination, and a multi-casualty simulation, ensuring they are prepared to respond effectively in real-life emergencies.
The students were joined by the advisers of ERV and Rover Scouts, Mr. Reignard Hombrebueno and Mr. Raynon Ladia, respectively.
