Blending culture with innovation, UC and the Department of Educationโ€“Cordillera Administrative Region (DepEd-CAR) formalized a partnership on December 7, 2025, to implement the project โ€œDigitalization of Cordilleran Traditional Sports and Games with AI Analytics.โ€

The collaboration aims to preserve and promote indigenous sports and games by transforming them into digital learning resources supported by artificial intelligence. DepEd-CAR will facilitate access to schools and learners for data gathering and pilot testing, support the integration of project outputs into educational programs, and take part in training, dissemination, and feedback activities. The agency will also assist in community coordination to ensure cultural accuracy and validation.

By embedding technology in heritage preservation, the project creates an interactive platform for younger generations to learn and appreciate Cordilleran traditions. The initiative advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) through innovative and culturally grounded learning tools, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by applying AI-driven solutions in education, and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by safeguarding indigenous cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations.
