Student journalists from The Alternative, UCโ€™s official student media and publication, captured major recognitions in the Individual Events of the 24th Regional Higher Education Press Conference held in Baguio City from February 11 to 13, 2026.

Leading the roster of winners, Marcela Sofia M. Solis, Junior Layout Artist, was named 2nd Highest Individual Pointer after securing two 1st Place finishes and one 2nd Place award across her categories, an achievement that distinguished her among the regionโ€™s top campus journalists.

Jiro Maeda Dela Cruz, Junior Staff member of the Sports Writing Department, was elected Public Information Officer of the Association of College Editors โ€“ Cordillera Administrative Region, further affirming the publicationโ€™s growing influence beyond competition events.

With these accomplishments, The Alternative solidified its standing as one of the top student publications in the region.
