UC commends Mario Oriana III and Miles Rommel Ritos for their outstanding performance at the National Debate Championship Morayta 2026, an online national British Parliamentary tournament hosted by Far Eastern University from January 23โ€“25 and January 31โ€“February 1, 2026.

Facing 124 teams from universities across the country, the pair powered through seven rigorous preliminary rounds, earning the distinction of 2nd Reserve Union Cup Breaking Team. Their campaign was marked by disciplined case construction, sharp rebuttals, and strong composure against debaters on the national circuit.

The Union Cup break category is reserved for institutions that have not reached the semifinals of any National Debate Championship in the past decade, making their breakthrough fiercely contested and deeply meaningful.

For Mario Oriana III, a first-year Forensic Science student, and Miles Rommel Ritos, a third-year Behavioral Science student, their recognition heralds a confident return to the national stage following the revival of the Universityโ€™s Speech and Debate Society in 2023.
