Level 2 student nurses from UC College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences participated in a Pharmacology Skills Enhancement immersion from March 5 to 6 2026. The program strengthened the studentsโ€™ competency in medication administration and clinical pharmacology.

During the immersion, students practiced drug administration. They also performed dosage calculations, medication reconciliation, and patient safety checks to prevent adverse drug reactions. Clinical simulations allowed students to apply pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles in controlled scenarios, enhancing their critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills.

The event emphasized proper documentation of drug administration, monitoring for therapeutic and side effects, and patient education regarding medication adherence, providing a hands-on experience that bridges classroom knowledge with real-world nursing practice.

The event was facilitated by Mr. Chris April Tamaken, Nurse III, at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center, UC CONAHโ€™s industry partner. Under the guidance of experienced clinical instructors, the immersion strengthened the studentsโ€™ readiness to deliver safe, evidence-based pharmacological care in future clinical settings.
