Political Science faculty of the UC College of Arts and Sciences convened for an academic discussion and consultation on teaching CORDI 101: Cordillera History and Socio-Cultural Heritage on March 9, 2026. The consultation was led by author, historian, Boise State University Professor and Associate Dean Dr. Shelton Woods. The session advanced the faculty membersโ€™ strategies for delivering the course using Dr. Woodsโ€™ book “Governor of the Cordillera.”

Discussions delved into the legacy of Governor John Early, the balance between foreign and local historical perspectives, and the challenges of accessing primary sources. Dr. Woods committed to donating his archives, including Earlyโ€™s unpublished memoir, to support local research.

Dr. Woods emphasized pedagogical storytelling, saying, โ€œEverybody is equal, everyone is important, and we should care enough about everybody to know what their story is.โ€
