To reinforce its commitment to campus safety, UC, through its Occupational Safety and Health Office, renewed its Fire Brigade Certification in a two-day technical training held from October 23 to 24, 2025.
The Bureau of Fire ProtectionโBaguio City Community Relations Section facilitated the training. Members of the UC Emergency Response Team, along with faculty and volunteers from the Integrated School, Accounting Office, MCES, and Campus Management Office, participated in the event.
Day one focused on lectures by SFO1 Preston M. Degway and FO1 Lara Kate T. De Guia, who discussed fire laws, causes, classifications, and response techniques. Participants also engaged in hands-on sessions on gear handling, hose deployment, and fire ladder operations.
On the second day, participants demonstrated their learning through drills and simulations, performing hose recovery techniques and extinguishing simulated LPG tank fires.
The participants successfully completed the rigorous return demonstrations, proving their readiness to respond to real emergencies.
