UC Commits to Building Strong Communities and Fostering Academic-Industry Bonds

As exemplified with Project H.E.L.E.N., UC demonstrates a proactive approach to building inclusive societies, ensuring access to justice for all, and fostering effective and accountable institutions. In the spirit of fostering collaboration and enhancing partnerships, the University of the Cordilleras (UC) has actively engaged with local stakeholders. UC’s dedication to engagement begins with the establishment of policies and procedures designed to identify and collaborate with external stakeholders to forge partnerships for sustainable development in the region. One of the key mechanisms through which UC actively engages with external stakeholders is through its outreach programs. These programs have been developed in alignment with UC’s policies and procedures, such as UC-CSR-PG-01 and UC-CSR-PG-02. These guide the university in planning, prioritizing, and implementing outreach initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable development, promoting inclusivity, and strengthening the bonds between the academic institution and the community it serves.

Furthermore, from September to December 2022, UC’s Career Center established key partnerships and collaborations with various entities to create opportunities and enhance the educational experience for its students. There were partnerships formed with SM City Baguio, Prosple, DOLE-CAR, and the Baguio Tourism Council.

UC’s partnership with SM City Baguio has opened doors for students to explore internships and participate in career talks. Likewise, Prosple’s involvement with UC has translated into potential job placements for students. The collaboration extends to career fairs, enabling students to interact with potential employers and explore placement opportunities.

Furthermore, UC’s engagement with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (DOLE-CAR) takes the form of representation. UC actively participated as a representative of the academe sector in the Jobs Fit 2022-2025 Consultation meeting. These collaborations not only empower students to make informed career choices but also bridge academia and industry, fostering a symbiotic relationship that benefits the wider community.
