From Campus to Career: UC Supports Employment

With job openings in both academic and administrative positions, the University of the Cordilleras has remained a strong advocate for employment. This dedication to job advocacy has taken on greater significance in the post-pandemic era which was due to the increase in enrollment that resulted in a rise in demand for teachers, instructors, professors, and back-office staff. A total of 251 teaching and non-teaching positions have been opened in 2022. Importantly, it has harmonized its employment practices with UC’s strategic objectives and core values, keeping a close eye on the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17 – “Partnerships for Goals.”

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global objectives established by the United Nations in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. These goals are designed to address some of the world’s most pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges with the overarching aim of creating a more sustainable and equitable future for all.

SDG 17 is a significant objective that supports the entire framework. It highlights the importance of local, national, and international cooperation and partnerships to achieving the remaining 16 goals. SDG 17 acknowledges that no one entity, nation, or group can successfully handle the intricate and linked problems of our time on its own.

Recently; The Human Resource Development (HRD) office has taken on a crucial role in promoting staff development, engagement, and wellbeing while also coordinating employment practices with the institution’s strategic goals and guiding principles. HRD office was used as a key point for outreach, using a variety of communication channels, including the official website, Facebook pages, and other social media platforms, to efficiently promote employment possibilities. This forward-thinking initiative has captivated attention, leading to a substantial influx of applications from eager candidates which underscores the significance of fostering partnerships to achieve sustainable development.

The Career Center offers a multitude of specialized services and resources focused at assisting graduating students and alumni. This unit offers complete support, assisting people in making informed decisions, improving their employability, and eventually gaining meaningful employment prospects. It is steadfastly committed to enabling people throughout their career paths.

At its core, UC’s holistic approach to career development, offers a wide array of services and resources tailored to graduating students and alumni. With a dedication to empowering individuals throughout their career journeys, this unit provides comprehensive support to help them make informed decisions, enhance their employability, and secure fulfilling employment opportunities. In these challenging times, UC not only fills job vacancies but also champions the aspirations and potential of individuals, contributing to the broader global effort of achieving Sustainable Development Goal 17.
