The Emergency Response Volunteers (ERV) from the Senior and Junior High School Departments of the UC Integrated School (IS), in partnership with the IS School-Community Engagement Program, organized a disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM)-related community engagement initiatives at Tagadi Elementary School in February 2025.
The community engagement focused on disaster preparedness, with ERV volunteers educating the learners on earthquake safety. Key instruction centered around the “duck, cover, and hold” technique.
Alongside the training, the volunteers provided essential learning materials such as reusable tracing pads, alphabet and number flashcards, and safety pocket manuals to aid the students’ education and disaster preparedness. In a further effort to enhance school safety, emergency placards were distributed, and emergency exit route signs were installed in every classroom.
