The University of the Cordilleras โ College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences underwent a Joint Monitoring and Evaluation by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on September 29, 2026. The activity assessed the Collegeโs nursing program, facilities, learning environment, and compliance with prescribed standards for nursing education.
The joint monitoring and evaluation team was chaired by Dr. Evalyn Elardo-Abalos of the CHED Technical Panel for Nursing. The team members were Dr. Daisy R. Palompon, member of the CHED Technical Panel for Nursing; Dr. Godfrey G. Mendoza of the CHED Regional Office; Dr. Elizabeth H. Bautista, member of the Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT); and Ms. Ana Cristina T. Biglete of the CHED Office of Programs and Standards Development (OPSD). Dr. Abalos and Dr. Palompon participated virtually.
Representing the Professional Regulation Commissionโs Professional Regulatory Board of Nursing (PRBON) were Hon. Josefina A. Tuazon and Hon. Merle L. Salvani, both members of the PRBON. They were joined by Ms. Genevieve F. Gumiyao, PRC-Cordillera Administrative Region (PRC-CAR) representative, and Ms. Juanita L. Domogen, Regional Director of PRC-CAR.
The activity is consistent with Article III, Section 9(d) of Republic Act No. 9173, or the Philippine Nursing Act of 2002, which mandates the PRBON to examine nursing education institutions and ensure that prescribed standards for nursing education are properly complied with and maintained. It also aligns with PRC Resolution No. 1471, series of 2021, on the inspection and monitoring of educational institutions and establishments, and CHED Memorandum Order No. 15, series of 2017, which prescribes the policies, standards, and guidelines for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
