The University, through the Center for Social Responsibility (CSR) โ Project H.E.L.E.N., in partnership with the College of Architecture and Fine Arts (CAFA), formally turned over the Furvent Animal Rescue and Advocacy Sanctuary Enhancement and Renovation Project on October 21, 2025, at the UC campus.
The project, received by Ms. Lovely Tuazon, founder of the Furvent Sanctuary, highlights UCโs commitment to community engagement and animal welfare through creative and socially responsible design.
Developed by Architecture students Rianni Joshe C. Arsenio, Melody P. Atiwag, Elessandra Nadine Ignacio, and Dennis Tobalan under the supervision of Architect Aiza Fernandez-Gawisan, the initiative proposed an improved master plan and architectural layout to enhance the sanctuaryโs functionality, safety, and overall environment for both animals and caretakers.
Representatives from the College of Business Administration โ Junior Finance Executives (JFINEX), led by their adviser Mr. Joel Marcelo, also joined the turnover ceremony in support of the collaborative effort.
โIn this project, our students and faculty listened not to words, but to silent needsโdesigning for those who cannot speak, yet deserve care and comfort. The result is a sanctuary that embodies both functionality and heart,โ said Dr. Irene G. Florendo, Dean of CAFA.
