The University of the Cordilleras has completed installation of a solar photovoltaic system at its Legarda Campus as part of the crucial requirements of Project Sunshare.

The solar panels, totaling over PhP 1 million, finished installation last September 2, 2022. Along with this, it also includes a control center which includes a battery storage system and a smart meter. It was then followed by a technical training session with Project Sunshare members, along with the UC’s Facilities and Management Office and Building Management Office.

Project Sunshare aims to develop a blockchain marketplace application where users can buy and sell renewable energy from their community. It has a grant fund form DOST-PCIEERD worth PhP 3.9 million. The installation of the solar PV system will drive the next phase of implementation for the project.
