The University of the Cordilleras โ College of Arts and Sciences Language Department received a Certificate of Recognition from Dominican Mirador National High School (DMNHS) in March 2026, in recognition of its sustained support and partnership in the implementation of the Brigada Eskwela Program, Adopt-A-School Program, and ARAL Program. The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement signed on July 8, 2025.
The recognition highlights the departmentโs continuing efforts to strengthen literacy and reading comprehension among junior high school learners through community-based academic initiatives led by students enrolled in the English Language Studies program.
Among these initiatives was the S.I.R.I.P. (Strategic & Individualized Reading Intervention Program) conducted from July 18โ25, 2025 by BA ELS-3 students during their internship. The program focused on Grades 7 and 8 learners, providing targeted reading interventions to improve comprehension and literacy skills.
This was followed by L.E.A.P. 2026: Language Enhancement and Appreciation Program, implemented from February 6 to March 5, 2026. Led by BA ELS-3 students, the program provided hands-on teaching experience while further supporting reading development among partner-school learners.
