Members of the University of the Cordilleras Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Team took part in a benchmarking visit at the Baguio Smart City Command Center in April 2026, reinforcing efforts to enhance institutional emergency preparedness and align it with advanced city-level smart systems.
The visit highlighted the Center’s integrated technologies, including CCTV surveillance, GIS mapping, data analytics, and computer-aided dispatch systems used for real-time public safety and disaster response. Participants also observed live monitoring operations, where incidents and emergencies are detected, assessed, and relayed to responders through a centralized command platform.
Key discussions centered on emergency coordination, early warning systems, and response protocols, enabling the team to compare the Center’s operational framework with existing institutional practices. The activity also opened opportunities for adopting similar technologies to strengthen campus safety and disaster risk reduction, while addressing key considerations such as data privacy and system sustainability.
