The University of the Cordilleras (UC) Peer Facilitators, in partnership with UC Center for Social Responsibility through Project H.E.L.E.N., conducted Project READ X Peers for the Environment: Minds in Bloom: Bridging Early Literacy and Environmental Advocacy for a Greener Future on June 10 at Camp 7 Elementary School.

The community engagement initiative benefited Grade 1 learners and the school community by integrating environmental advocacy with early literacy development. UC Peer Facilitators were divided into two groups, with one leading a campus-wide clean-up drive to promote environmental responsibility and help maintain a cleaner learning environment, while the other facilitated interactive storytelling, reading, and dance activities to strengthen literacy skills and cultivate a love for reading among young learners.

Complementing the outreach, the Center for Social Responsibility, through Project H.E.L.E.N., donated a box of soap to Camp 7 Elementary School to support the health, hygiene, and well-being of its learners and personnel.

The initiative reflects the University’s continuing commitment to community engagement by promoting volunteerism among students, fostering partnerships with local schools, and advancing education and environmental sustainability through meaningful service.
