The University of the Cordilleras, through the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Balik Scientist Program, hosted the seminar “AI-Assisted Chemometrics and Advanced Data Analytics in Forensic Science” on July 24, 2026.

The event brought together experts, researchers, educators, and students to explore the transformative role of artificial intelligence in modern forensic investigations.

The seminar featured Dr. Elmer-Rico E. Mojica , Professor and Associate Program Director of the Forensic Science Program at Pace University, New York, USA, who discussed how artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics can complement human expertise in interpreting complex forensic evidence and addressing the challenges of big data. The session emphasized the integration of AI-driven technologies with scientific judgment to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and innovation in forensic science.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of CrimeXperience, the UCโ€™s immersive extended reality (XR) Crime Scene Simulation developed in the Philippine context and funded by DOST. The project showcased the University’s commitment to advancing forensic education through emerging technologies and experiential learning.

Participants included UCโ€™s students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff, alongside representatives from higher education institutions within and outside the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and delegates from DOST-CAR.
