The University of the Cordilleras (UC) launched its Doctor of Information Technology with specialization in Geoinformatics for Natural Hazards for School Year 2026โ2027 on September 5, 2026, at the UC Theatre. The new program strengthens UCโs commitment to advancing technology-driven solutions for natural hazards and disaster resilience.
Dr. Sergio P. Molina of University of Alicante, Spain, presented the overview of Project DIGIHAZ (Digital Transformation for Natural Hazards) as an international higher education and research collaboration funded under the EU-ASEAN Sustainable Connectivity Package โ Higher Education Programme (SCOPE-HE). Led by the University of Alicante in Spain, the project brings together six higher education institutions from Europe and Southeast Asia: the University of Alicante, University of West Attica in Greece, Xavier University in the Philippines, University of the Cordilleras, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and Universiti Utara Malaysia.
Among UCโs Government Agency Partners who were present during the launching were DOST โ CAR led by RD Dr. Nancy A. Bantog and the Office of Civil Defense CAR headed by RD Mr. Albert A. Mogol.
As a DIGIHAZ consortium member, UC is among the four Asian institutions selected to offer specialized doctoral program.
