The University of the Cordilleras (UC) welcomed CHED-SIKAP scholars during the SIKAP Orientation on September 15, 2026. The activity highlighted UCโs role as a Delivering Higher Education Institution under the program and its commitment to faculty and staff development.
UC President Dr. Nancy M. Flores welcomed the participants emphasizing SIKAP as a strategic initiative that contributes to faculty development, institutional leadership, and the continuing improvement of Philippine higher education.
CHED-CAR Regional Director Dr. Serafin L. Ngohayon delivered a message emphasizing that SIKAP is more than a scholarshipโit is a commitment to shaping the future of higher education institutions (HEIs). He challenged the scholars to reflect on how they would apply the knowledge and skills they gain through the program and what research they could pursue to address pressing societal challenges.
This was followed by CHED-CAR LGSO and SIKAP Program Focal Dr. Christopher A. Depnag, who presented the purpose and objectives of the event.
Dr. Arvy N. Osma, a CHED-SIKAP Scholar who earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Management degree from the University of the Cordilleras in 2025 served as resource speaker during the orientation.
The Scholarships for Staff and Instructorsโ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP) of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) provides scholarship opportunities for teaching and non-teaching personnel of higher education institutions to pursue advanced graduate studies. This supports the enhancement of the quality of higher education instruction and delivery.
