The City Government of Baguio has allocated funding for the implementation of SMART Garbage Bins, aimed at addressing the city’s waste management issues.
Equipped with Geographic Information System and Automatic Sensors, this high-tech solution is invented by UC BS Computer Engineering students Kyle Russel C. Lucero, Aeryk John M. Mosquete, and Samuel S. Samuel.
The same garbage bins have won 1st Place in the Outstanding Student Creative Research (SIBOL AWARD) College Category of the 2023 DOST – TAPI Regional Invention Contest and Exhibit. The team is now gearing up to represent Northern Luzon in the upcoming national competition scheduled for March 2024.
