The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) awarded 𝐔𝐂 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 during the 24th Gawad Kalasag National Awards held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila on December 13, 2024.

This award recognizes UC’s exceptional contributions to disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation through innovative initiatives, including the 𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐊𝐈 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 for Baguio City, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐔𝐌 for watershed management, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐎𝐂𝐊 for sustainable upland infrastructure and water security, and 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐈-𝐓 for landslide mitigation.

The recognition also highlights UC’s collaborative efforts with national agencies and local government units, its cutting-edge water treatment facilities, community engagement programs, and its academic offering of a 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.
