Level 4 student nurses of UC College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences conducted a child health care initiative at the daycare center of Barangay Pongayan in Kapangan, Benguet, in February 2026. This community initiative is part of their Community Health Nursing immersion program.
The student nurses organized a feeding program, and facilitated a hygiene clinic for the beneficiaries. The activity sought to support the childrenโs nutrition, promote health awareness, and strengthen early childhood learning in the community.
Through interactive games and coloring activities, the nursing students taught proper handwashing and personal hygiene practices. They also carried out head and nail assessments to identify common health concerns among the children, including pediculosis or lice infestation, for proper documentation and referral.
The outreach allowed the students to apply classroom knowledge in a real community setting while providing essential health services to young learners.
