Participants from various schools, agencies, and the general public attended a special lecture by historian Dr. Shelton Woods on March 9, 2026, introducing the University community to the life and legacy of John C. Early who served as governor of Mountain Province.

The lecture drew from Dr. Woodsโ€™ research and his book “Governor of the Cordillera: John C. Early Among the Philippine Highlanders,” which examines American colonial governance and its interaction with indigenous communities in the region. As part of the visit, copies of the book were formally turned over to the UC Libraries.

The lecture was participated by representatives from Brent International School, the University of the Philippines Baguio, Benguet State University, Commission on Higher Education CAR, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples CAR, and the Cordillera Peoples Alliance.
