The University participated in the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill โ City-Wide, Full-Scale Exercises on March 12, 2026, reinforcing its commitment to disaster preparedness as a member of the Baguio City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
At the sound of the alarm, students, faculty members, and staff performed the โDuck, Cover, and Holdโ procedure before evacuating to designated areas following the activation of the campus siren.
As part of the drill, UC activated its Incident Command System, simulating real-life emergency operations. Officers conducted various scenarios that mirrored actual disaster situations, including search and rescue, first aid, and crisis coordination exercises.
The activity also supported the citywide earthquake contingency plan, with Baguio City serving as the pilot area for its activation.
UCโs participation reflects its continuing leadership in disaster preparedness. The University was previously recognized as Regional Leader for Disaster Preparedness and Climate Action and named Regional Winner โ Best Higher Education Institution in the Gawad Kalasag 2025 by the Office of Civil Defense and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council for its outstanding Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Climate Change Adaptation initiatives.
