UC College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), through its Political Science Society, the official student organization of BS Political Science students, in partnership with UC CAS College Student Council, held a Women’s Month symposium themed “WE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society: Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas!” on March 16, 2026.

The event featured resource speaker Joanna Cariño, who led discussions on key gender issues, including the objectification of women, the historical role of Filipinas in social movements, and the continuing struggle for equality in contemporary society.

Organizers said the symposium served as a platform for awareness and dialogue, encouraging participants to reflect on gender inclusivity and women’s empowerment. The session also highlighted the enduring strength and leadership of Filipinas, drawing inspiration from the legacy of babaylans.
