The University of the Cordilleras (UC) celebrated Japanese culture and international friendship as it hosted the TANABATA: Inter-University Festival 2026 on July 7, 2026, at the UC Gymnasium.
Recognized as an official Commemorative Event of the Philippines-Japan Friendship Year 2026, marking the 70th Anniversary of the Normalization of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Japan, the festival gathered participants from various academic institutions and organizations.
Organized by the University of the Cordilleras, through its College of Arts and Sciences, in partnership with the Filipino-Japanese Foundation of Northern Luzon, Inc., the Japan Foundation, Manila, and the UC University Student Council, the event featured a Bamboo Decorating Contest, Northern Luzon’s first Kobanashi performances, a Kitsuke demonstration and Kimono Fashion Show, and a Japanese Calligraphy Workshop.
