Mountain Engineering Summit 2022

Program Boondock together with DOST-CAR and DOST-PCIIERD set forth the launch of the 2022 Mountain Engineering Summit (MES) with the theme โ€œNavigating the Apex of Mountain Resources through Science and Technology โ€œ, last November 28, 2022, at Venus Parkview Hotel, Baguio City.

Roughly 100 participants from different sectors attended the summit. This was considered the first engineering summit that concerned mountainous work. There are also various technologies and innovative projects presented that can provide the needs of Cordillera for sustainability including the innovation enablers in the region.

Kind words and inspirational uplift were given by our Regional Director Dr. Nancy A. Bantog, which was delivered by the Assistant Regional Director for Field Operation Services, Engr. Angel L. Maguen, DOST โ€“ Undersecretary for Research and Development, Dr. Leah J. Buendia, and the DOST Secretary, Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr. which was delivered by Dr. Picpican. The DOST-PCIEERD Executive Director, Dr. Enrico C. Paringit presented the DOST Initiatives on Mountain Engineering while Mr. Jose H. Dado, Jr, discussed the Policy Programs for CAR on Mountain Engineering.

As part of the summit, DOST-PHIVOLCS launched and turned over the La Trinidad Ground Shaking Hazard Maps to the LGU of La Trinidad, Benguet which was joined by different DOST Officials, Project Heads, LGUs, and Stakeholders. From their various programs, they are committed to push for the construction of the earthquake-resilient structure which can help the government units gain additional information on how they prepare for and help mitigate risk from the occurrence of earthquakes.
