Forensic Dna Laboratory Skills Training Course

The University of the Cordilleras provided training for Criminal Justice Professionals, which was funded by CHED and conducted in collaboration with the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

In 2022, the DNA laboratory of UC-CCJE received its first batch of trainees for the Forensic DNA Laboratory Skills Training Course. While this was intended for those in the academe, professionals from various fields also participated. Among the participants included prosecutors and lawyers, professors, DNA practitioners and other forensic science enthusiasts. The training was divided into three small groups consisting of 12 participants each. Total participants are 36. Each group must finish a six-day online course which runs from August 22-27, 2022, before finally immersing in the laboratory for two days of actual workshop from August 29-September 3, 2023.

On the second day of each hands-on training session, participants received a certificate of completion for successfully completing the training course. Dr. Ian Kendrich Fontanilla, head of the Institute of Biology at UP Diliman, and Dr. Christian Pascual, Program Chair of the Forensic Science Department of UC – CCJE, awarded the certificates.
