DOST Features UC’s TBI in Philippine Startup Week

UC President Nancy M. Flores presented the best practices and innovative engagements of the Univserity, during the “Managing and Sustaining a Technology Business Incubation (TBI)” of the National 6th TBI Summit of the Philippine Startup Week hosted by DOST, DTI, and DICT last November 16, 2022.

As a model driver of TBIs among universities in the Philippines, UC was 1 of 4 featured universities among the 21 DOST-funded TBI centers. This serves as a hallmark of excellence that the University has committed to kickstarting innovations within the UC community, initiating financial activities for the MSMEs, and nurturing the local and national startup ecosystem.

A grant equivalent to PhP 8.7M from DOST PCIEERD was provided to UC to support the establishment of the UC Innovation and Nurturing Space TBI. It was then followed by the establishment of the UC Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office, with a grant equivalent to PhP 2.4M from the same institution. Along with a multitude of external RDI grants funds from DOST and other institutions, the UC Innovation and Technology Transfer Office was made into an organic office in 2021. This has also led to UC spearheading the Cordillera’s TBI consortia in 2022. With these initiatives, the University stays committed to the development of innovations and improvement of the startup ecosystem.
