The University of the Cordilleras has been officially accredited as a Center for Human Rights Education (CHRE) by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), making it the first private higher education institution in the Cordillera Administrative Region to earn this distinction.

The ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement took place on March 26, 2026, between CHR-CAR Regional Director Atty. Romel Daguimol and UC Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ariel Nimo Pumecha.

The partnership will advance human rights education across three key areas. In instruction, it will strengthen the integration of human rights principles into the universityโ€™s curricula, cultivating studentsโ€™ understanding of dignity, justice, and ethical responsibility. In research, UC will promote multi-disciplinary studies that contribute to the protection and understanding of human rights. Through community engagement, the University will conduct outreach programs with communities, government agencies, and private organizations to enhance advocacy and raise awareness.

This recognition highlights UCโ€™s leadership in academic excellence, social responsibility, and transformative education, reaffirming its commitment to shaping a just, inclusive, and rights-conscious society.
